Beautiful Tragedy was a passion project I dreamt of for years.  I would go through my neighborhood and other neighborhoods in my community and see so many sidewalk shrines of lives lost that it made me very sad.  It made me think of what it’s like being a mom who has to protect her kids just from wanting to go to play outside.  At the same the love and care people would put into creating the shrines and the beautiful light it would emit at night.  I was finally able to explore the shrines with the help of The Mike Kelley Grant through the Echo park Film Center.  With the 2020 chain of events, it reinforced my thought that this project is on going.
