Desi Holiday - Storyboards & Scenes

Storyboards have become a vital part of my filmmaking process. There were lots of nuances in Desi Holiday that needed to be captured and the storyboard helped to keep track of those details.

Desi _ Intro to Oasis Scene

Prior to shooting, I visualized each scene from the script.  I would create a shot list and storyboard most scenes.  Special thanks to Mario Prado for being the storyboard artist and helping to give the storyboards their proper perspective as I described the look I was aiming for.  This scene introduces the audience to Desi’s imagination and her inner dialogue with her baby.  There were some essential elements to capture such as the close-ups of her writing in her journal and seeing her rotate on the sphere.

Desi _ Love ??? Scene

This scene captures the depths of Desi’s emotions; her confusion,  anger and disappointment.  It was crucial to get extreme close ups of her features, especially her eyes.  Also, capturing extreme close-ups of the pictures in her journal further helped to illustrate the sweet relationship she once had with her first love.  It was essential to storyboard this scene because it’s easy to forget needed shots once on set.  Marking off each box from my shot list once it was in the can helped to keep track of the coverage and to know that the scene would fully come together in post production.
